“Why Strategy Implementation Fails: Behaviors, Processes and Tools for Successful Execution” – Meredith Inniger, Principal

Topics

Meredith Inniger, Principal at Veralon is joined by Annie Steelman, Senior Vice President, System Strategy at RWJBarnabas Health, to discuss “Why Strategy Implementation Fails: Behaviors, Processes and Tools for Successful Execution” at ACHE Congress.

Why do so many strategic plans sit on a shelf or do not achieve their desired benefit? Often the answer lies not with the plan itself but in how the plan is executed. While the roadmap to an organization’s destination has been charted, there is no one in the driver’s seat of the car. Planning for successful implementation is as important, and sometimes more difficult, than any other strategic plan component. Strategy implementation also involves leading through cultural changes and aligning stakeholders in new ways, particularly as strategy implementation may span multiple entities of an organization. This session will cover new research on organizational behavior and strategy implementation, a continuum of best practices, and strategies for success in different types of organizations.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the common pitfalls of strategy implementation and how to effectively design and manage a process for success.
  • Review best practice examples, assess strategy implementation in your organization and determine changes necessary to align stakeholders for short- and long-term wins.
