Kevin has more than 30 years of experience in physician compensation valuation and commercial reasonableness opinions, physician practice assessments, strategic physician compensation plan design, advanced practice provider (APP) care optimization, and physician practice management.

He joined Veralon after many years as a manager at each of three national consulting firms, where he supervised the preparation of numerous fair market value and commercial reasonableness opinions including physician employment arrangements and professional service agreements (including co-management and provider staffing agreements) for practices of up to 500 physicians. He also oversaw the development of fair market value opinions for medical director and other physician leadership compensation agreements, and for call coverage agreements, as well as physician practice acquisition assessments. He participated in physician compensation plan design projects and in negotiating proposed purchases of multispecialty physician practices by health systems.

Prior to that, as Director of Finance for Physician Services at a major southeastern health center, he oversaw physician recruitment, and physician employment agreement and PSA reviews, reporting to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO). His responsibilities increased to include internal market benchmarking and informal fair market value and commercial reasonableness assessments of physician employment agreements and PSAs, including agreements for medical directors, call coverage, and physician recruitment. Kevin developed and presented recommendations for alternative compensation plan designs, supported the general counsel and chief compliance officer with compliance reviews, and assisted in expanding the employed physician practice from 30 to more than 130 FTEs. He also designed a new financial reporting system and processes for employed physician practices.

As a regional physician practice manager for Per Se Technologies (later acquired by Mckesson), he managed private radiology and anesthesia practices throughout the southeast; designed, implemented, and administered physician compensation distribution plans; and assisted with the purchase and financing for buyouts of limited partner interests in imaging centers.

His early experience was in tax accounting for major accounting firms, and in investment analysis.

Kevin holds a BS in Accounting/Business Administration from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and has been a Certified Public Accountant.
